The old railway terraces that were built in 'new' Stratford to support the railway industry have become a largely residential area. The housing was mainly (historically) built by the local authority and the area is very vibrant with people from all over the world especially now 'new European', but the area has been home for many migrant families. It has great schools: Colegrave Primary, RONEC and Chobham Academy.

The Olympics changed this area in just four years. An area polluted and neglected became the focus of the world. Now the flats are being let and a new community is emerging.

E20 is the postcode of the fictional Walford (Eastenders), but is now a new area of London.
